The JD-20 Safety Shield is formed from clear acrylic and has a base measuring 14" deep by 17" wide allowing ample working space for tube racks and other items. The back supporting shield is 15" high, and supports the angled upper shield, which is 12" deep by 17" wide. The opening for the hands and arms is 8" high. If a higher opening is desired, as for a taller technician, the angled shield easily adjusts to over 12" high with light arm pressure, returning to the 8" height when pressure is released.
The unique design allows for easy manipulation under the shield, eliminating the awkward reach-around technique of the standard shields. Because of the freedom of arm movement, work can be easily moved on either side of the shield, increasing work efficiency. In many cases the JD-20 Safety Shield will eliminate the need to wear a face shield, as all potentially hazardous manipulations can be done under the shield.
If larger shielded work space is desired, two or more shields can be set side by side. The shields are light weight and can be moved to adapt to the changing work loads and conditions of the modern laboratory.
