This unit holds the thumb and fingers in a "palm-up" position. The immobilization of the patient's arm is then accomplished by two Velcro restraints which hold the wrist firmly but gently against the immobilizer to prevent movement. When the tourniquet is applied, the arm becomes straight and immobile. The finger grip simulates a normal clenched fist. The optional thumb slot controls arm rotation.
The use of the pediatric arm restraint allows the blood drawing procedure to be completed by a single Phlebotomist, minimizing the risk of tissue damage and physical injury to the patient.
The bright colors and attractive design application are appealing and calming to children. The Pediatric Arm Restraint is available in bright red, yellow and blue. The unit may be thoroughly cleansed and sanitized between uses.
