B-5 is the current "Gold Standard" for fixation of bone marrow in histological studies.

B-5 Fixative pre-filled histojars eliminate the dispensing of concentrated Formaldehyde, as well as the handling of Mercuric Chloride, which is toxic.

The B-5 Fixative pre-filled histojar saves technologist's time and provides safe transport to and from the site of specimen acquisition. Freshly mixed B-5 Fixative assures that the specimen will arrive at the laboratory in the best possible condition.

The B-5 pre-filled histojar consists of a screw-capped jar with buffered six percent Mercuric Chloride in water, and a separate vial of 37 percent Formaldhyde. The pre-measured Formaldehyde is added to the B-5 Fixative just prior to the addition of the bone marrow aspirate. Also included is patient identification label and Zip-Lok bag for transporation back to the laboratory.

The B-5 Fixative histojar system meets all current OSHA labeling and packing requirements for these toxic materials.
